It’s the Start of the Second Weekend

And we’re adding six more official potatoes to our ranks. Starch Trek has 143.00 miles completed while Tombet Tater is done with 125.15 miles. Also over the line is Fry Me to the Moon with 103.51 miles and Nip it in the Spud with 102.28 miles. Crossing the finish line at almost exactly the same mileage are Susan Spudkin with 100.24 miles and Fo’Fanna Potato with 100 miles exactly.

Congratulations to our newest finishers who help to bring our total finishers to 74 with 8 pedal days remaining. We do have 159 spuds off the couch with only 19 still resting. Those would be our DUD SPUDS in training.

Potato Happenings

Today we’ll shout out of potatoes who have done 9 or more Couch Potatoes and are closing in on their next one – or maybe finished their next one already. This is our 13th year and only three people have finished every one so far. Duchess Potato has finished this year as well while Bubba Spud (55.00 miles) and yours truly (62.30 miles) are still on the road.

The only one who can earn magnet 12 this year is Home Fries (22.00 miles) who we cheered for yesterday.

There are several potatoes looking for magnet number 11 at the end of this year’s tour. Potato Prez (119.86 miles) and Tottering Tater (104.50 miles) already have theirs. Still in the hunt are New Potato (87.60 miles), Rocky Potato (84.60 miles), and Potato Jam (64.00 miles).

Interestingly, all lady potatoes looking for magnet number 10. La Nuova Patata (89.10 miles), Gator Bait Tater (71.04 miles), 50 in 50 Potato (61.16 miles), and Potato Sticks (61.10 miles) get that 10th in just a few miles.

Tomorrow we’ll check out those looking for (or already earned) magnet number 7, 8, or 9.

Administrivia

With all of this pedaling, our potatoes have totaled 16,114.61 miles. Only 13,885.39 miles left to meet that “extra challenge” I threw out there. With only 8 pedaling days remaining, it will be a tough one to finish.

Happy Pedaling,
