Le Tour de Couch Potato 2026: The Final Tater Tally

For twenty-three days, we pedaled away,
While the boys over in France took their rest day.

They climbed through the mountains, all polished and lean;
We sweated in basements beside a machine.

We pedaled through heat and Canadian smoke,
Through storms, fallen trees and the occasional oak.

We dodged several deer and raccoons by the score,
While a snorting cornfield deer demanded some more.

There were vineyards, vacations and lemonade stands,
With potatoes still pedaling through faraway lands.

Lady Liberty rode through the neighborhood square,
While mosquitoes rode helmet-class, free of all fare.

Some raced through storms and were caught in the rain;
Some fought two-way headwinds and questioned their brains.

Decapotato rode over one thousand, because
Apparently nobody explained what the mileage goal was.

The five-hundred crowd also went wildly astray;
A hundred was plenty-but who are we to say?

Some doubled the goal and kept rolling with pride;
Some crossed at one hundred and stopped mid-stride.

Four finished precisely at one hundred flat,
Which is excellent planning-we’ll give them that.

To our 137 finishers: take a bow,
You earned that fine magnet-go find a fridge now.

And the 77 who never came through?
We have a special title reserved just for you.

To every potato who joined the fun,
Whether you rode a little or rode a ton.

Thank you for riding, for laughing along,
For every story, each picture and song.

To Duchess Potato, who works by my side,
Thanks for helping keep this crazy Tour alive.

This Tour wouldn’t happen, as many will tell,
Without all you do to help run it so well.

So rest up your taters and give your legs cheer;
Le Tour de Couch Potato returns next year.

Thank you for another unforgettable Tour.
Thank you for the miles, the laughs, the stories, the photos, and for making Le Tour de Couch Potato what it has become.

We’ll see you in 2027, Potato People! 🥔🚴

Happy Pedaling,

Madam Tuber

Day 23: Last Pedal Day

We had an additional nine potatoes finish up so far today, bringing our total so far to 134 over the century mark. We’re at 22,813.2 miles pedaled with 23 still on the road. How many DUD SPUDS are we going to have this year? 57 aren’t off the couch and they would need to pedal 100 miles in under 6 hours.

As we finish up, remember you have until midnight Eastern time tonight to pedal. All miles need to be submitted by midnight tomorrow night (7/27). Please use the link below to check your mileage in the event something didn’t get entered correctly.

Those finishing so far today are: I Do Potato racked up 113.9 miles for a magnet. Kartoffel Kaiser is in with 103.7 miles. Jeannie-in-a-Tater with 101.3 miles crossed a few pedal strokes ahead of Lenko Latkes who has 101.2 miles. Then we hit a mini-peloton: Kato Potato pedaled 100.6 miles, right behind here were Hot Potato and Home Fries, both with 100.5 miles, then we find Pommes Soufflees with 100.4 miles, and finally Tuberski who rode 100.1 miles. Be sure to check out the Hall of Fame to see how many magnets our potatoes have earned: Hall of Fame

Day 22: 2026’s Penultimate

Nine more taters earned magnets today. We now have 125 official potatoes and almost 22,000 miles pedaled.. That brings our total official potatoes to , bringing our total across the finish line to 116 and our total mileage to 20,877.2. Thirty two are out on the road – off the couch, while we still have 57 who didn’t get off the couch – DUD SPUDS! If you’re still pedaling, don’t become a DUD.

Check out this group making it official today: Dre’ Tater and Peck O’Taters both finished today with 111.4 miles. Bar Fry pedaled 105.2 miles for her magnet while Cool Hand Yuke is done with 103.7 miles. Tracie Tots made it official with 102.0 miles.Gator Bait Tater, Duchess Potato, and Star Crossed Spud all finished with 100.7 miles. Duchess maintains her perfect record, finishing every Tour. Spidey Spud is done as well with 100.2 miles. Be sure to check out the Hall of Fame to see how many magnets our potatoes have earned: Hall of Fame

Pedaling by the numbers: changing it up again! Over the years, we have had potatoes finish with a broken arm, broken leg, 9 months pregnant, kidney stones, etc. Yep – you all are tough spuds. Today we want to give a special call out – this is why we love to do this. Potabella shared the following: It’s raining so I’m not riding today, but I want to share something. There are several women here who are members of a group that ride together. We call ourselves The Biker Chicks. On our very first ride of the season in April, our leader was hit by a car. She has been in rehab since then. But despite the screws in her ankle, she has been riding daily in rehab trying to make the 100 miles. Don’t know if she would want me to say her name, so I celebrate her anonymously, whether or not she reaches the 100 miles, for her stamina, strength and amazing determination to persevere. She is 86 years old. Thanks for sharing Potabella – we’re ALL cheering for this fabulous Biker Chick to finish. If you want us to know who you are, we’ll cheer you on by name!

Reminder – pedaling ends at 11:59 PM ET tomorrow night (Sunday, July 26). All miles need to be entered by 11:59 PM ET Monday, July 27th. We will have a report out tomorrow and a final ride report by Wednesday, July 29th.

Here’s what y’all had to say about your rides:

Fry Alicia-Well today I Fried! Hot S you know what today but got some long mileage in! Everybody finish strong! We got this!

Dre’ Tater-Crossing the finish line with a day to spare. Thank you for all of your dedication and organizing. Happy pedaling.

Potato Chip Rock-got a good 37 mile ride through Iceland in between indoor and outdoor chores

Cajun Gator Tater-It was hot on the Tammany Trace but the beer was cold at Abita Brew Pub!

Toni the Spud-Instead of watching the TDF on the couch like a typical potato, I parked my butt on the saddle of my peloton so I can log enough miles to reach the 250 mile mark.

Captain Spud-Final Push

Cool Hand Yuke-DIY Triathlon with Miller Lite Spud was a success!

Total=10 deer 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌

Tuber or Not Tuber-The champagne is on ice and I’m humming La Marseillaise (quietly).
