I’m a little early on the update today but life is happening. Life cannot get in the way of celebrating our latest official taters, however. Today we congratulate 5 new official spuds. Spudding Genius rode WAY over the finish line with 148.72 miles. Irish Spud has a really crowded refrigerator as he adds another magnet after 109.66 miles. Pedaler McPotato also has another magnet for the collection with 101.1 miles pedaled. La Nuova Patata eeked over the finish line with 100.7 miles. And Potato Loco hit that century mark and stopped – but a magnet nonetheless with exactly 100.0 miles.
Potato Happenings
Busy, busy potatoes today – playing in the heat out there. Check out today’s potato happenings. New Potato – Out early to beat the heat and finish the challenge! CycoTater – Less humid today WHOOP WHOOP!!! Grape Tater – Always fun to clip in and then remember that your chain popped off at the end of the last ride but you were too busy to fix it then. Oh- Kay Tuber – Another great morning ride with Racing Spud! Seafaring Spud – Got up at 6:00 AM and hit an interesting 50 mile (25 out and 25 back) section of the Washington & Old Dominion trail which was an old railroad line inn Northern VA- important to both the North & South during the Civil War. In fact I occasionally see Civil War enactments occurring as I whiz by! I road North West through the several historic VA towns including Falls Church, Vienna, Herndon, Sterling, Ashburn and out to Leesburg. Lots of wildlife including deer, rabbits and a turkey buzzard circling overhead-maybe hoping I would be overcome by the heat which is 97F today! Lessons learned: wear eye protection and keep your mouth closed as there are a lot of flying critters especially in the early morning. Also, try to be done by the time the scorching sun is overhead. It really saps (at least in my case) strength. Tubular Tater – I feel like a French Fry. You Be YAmeen – Rode with Tuberville , Milby Crisps and Buck-a Spud today Had Buck-a-Spud hotter than a hot potato at me. I had to butter her up with a smile.
