Day 3: Potatoes are Crossing the Finish Line

Day 3 and over 2700 miles have been pedaled.

Green Eggs & Yam has achieved that 100 mile milestone with 125 miles. The 2026 Le Tour de Couch Potato now has 96 potatoes on the road. We’re starting to hear from some of our new potatoes as well. Enjoy all the experiences everyone is having. Hoping this is our year to make the 30,000 mile goal.

Here’s what y’all had to say about your rides:

Potato on LaVine-Would have liked more but had one eye on the storm clouds…still no rain here!

Chip-n-Dale-Hurricane Ridge Threshold Ride today.

Phrier Di-Started out just after sunrise with the wind at our backs. Stage 1 was mostly flat, but the wind made the return more difficult! The bugs were out along the river and Phrier Phil returned with many plastered to his little bald head. 😂

CycoTater-Radar lied. Got rained on but it kept me cool:)

Grape Tater-Ouch, just ouch. No matter how much I spend on chamois shorts or fitted saddles, that first ride bike always hurts. I guess that is what happens when you only ride 100 miles per year.

Kathryn-the-Great Tator-Early ride into Tai Chi. Cool breeze off the Great Lake and brilliant sunshine. Really memorable.

Mac Tattie-Rocked out for 40 minutes with Denis Norton on Peloton.

Mann, I Feel Like a Potato-6am start to beat the heat!

Yes Ma’am Yam-Fog for the first half of the ride then out came the sun. Was soaked from the damp air even though it was not raining. Weird feeling riding threw fog.

Phrier Phil-Our first ride in Le Tour de Couch Potato was a good one. Fortunately, the smoke from the wildfires here in western Colorado cleared a little over night. We wanted to beat the heat so we got up early and started our ride at 6:35am. The temperatures had cooled a bit overnight so the temps for our ride were in the mid 70’s. Wow! If we could share the cooler temps with those who are riding back east, we would. Our route was along the colorado river on the trail built by Grand Junction and Mesa County. It is. beautiful trail system for bikers and walkers. The only downside for riding that trail next to the river early in the morning is that the gnats like to hover on the trail and find their way inside my helmet and onto my bald head! Oh well, it does give my wife something to laugh at me about! We’ll see how our ride is tomorrow!

Potato Prez-After a brutal 10K race on Saturday, I’m finally off the couch with 41 bike miles.

Pump up the Yam-Another warm ride with Buck-a-Spud and Toni the Spud and 15+ other riders…

Judy (now Bod Squad Tater)-Thanks for the motivation! Got me back in the saddle after 3 years of seeing my bike and helmet in the garage every day, ensuring tires inflated just in case, ya know, I decided to take a spin….and now I’m rolling again. Shout out to Frying Nun🌻🚵🏻‍♀️

  1. Madam Tuber, The link for logging my miles is asking for a password, which I don’t recall setting or receiving.  Can you help me out here? Thanks,Mike Fisher
