Golly D Tater and Christmas Potato are both finished with 100.7 miles. Think they pedaled together? And Bumble Spud is also finished with 100.3 miles. Multiple neighborhood and local strip mall loops. Kinda boring but beats a day in the office😊. Whew – I think I got them all and a HUGE congratulations to that big group for all their efforts to get that 100 miles in.

Our “30 or less to go” group is a little smaller today. Due to all the finishers we had, we’re at 26 potatoes in this group. 11 Days, 11K Miles

And let’s not forget our 4 new potatoes who made it official today. Only one of them told me about their ride so they must be silent assassins – crossing that finish line in stealth mode. Spudly was just behind with 102 miles while Tracie Tots found a Peloton on vacay to finish up her ride with a little extra coming in at 100.11 miles. Congratulations to all of you on your century plus!

30 taters make up our “30 or less to go” group today. I’m sure some of them will be earning a magnet tomorrow. Decapotato is over 350 miles (and no Spanish lesson today) and Marshmallow Fluff Potato is over 250 miles.

We had potatoes indoors: Chip-n-Dale – Did the Templeman Recovery Ride through Valparaiso, Chile as he closes in on 200 miles. Yogatato – Beat the heat with a post yoga ride on the P! Yo’Potato – Another day stuck indoors on the spin bike due to weather but enjoyed a 40 minute augmented reality ride with Les Mills The Trip! Yam Kronen – Rain from the hurricane reach middle Illinois so me and my little potato are spinning indoors. MelaTater – Still on the Peleton in Whitefish.

And potatoes braving the elements: Spud CoolMythical Patata and I rode the C&O canal to Mile 0 and back! So bumpy! Seafaring Spud – Road around our historic town of McLean VA. Past Hickory Hill, the Kennedy Estate, CIA HQ and Langley Ordinary which was both a HQ and hospital during the Civil War. Of course I breezed past copious deer families and some foxes. Wolfpack Tater claims to have seen a groundhog but I was not that observant. Nashed Potato – I squeezed in a short ride in between waves of rain. Green Eggs & Yam – Hot, damn hot!

No Cobblestones for Us!

While the tour in France was stomping across the cobblestones, we were really adding up the miles and official potatoes in our tour. Five more taters made it official today including Fry Alicia who crossed the finish line with 109.89 miles. Also over the century mark today is DragonFry with 108.0 miles. Potato Prez road BWI airport loop with several other spuds (see below) to finish his tour #12 (102.35 miles)! Superwoman Spud showed those superwoman tendencies today to earn a magnet with 101.92 miles. And coming in hot (literally) is Green Eggs & Yam with 100.8 miles and another magnet. So proud of all our latest official tots! Tell all your friends and get them across the finish line too.

Our group of “30 or less to go” is really growing. Y’all are going to make me work for it tonight. Let’s see if I can get everyone here that is so close to getting over that finish line. (Deer, not the drink – bummer). Kartoffel Kaiser – Good times riding with my friend, Kim. (Since she didn’t register for Le Tour, I think I’ll call her Instant Potato Flake!) Thankful for her company, though, during our hot and humid ride.

Chip-n-Dale – Rode the La Sal Loop South and Slickrock Practice Look Trail this morning. Harley Taterson – Met up with several Eastern Shore riders who put me on the back beauty roads fromo Trappe to Easton Maryland. Getting in early ride before the scorching sun begins to beat down. We’re celebrating six more potatoes today who pedaled past the century mark. Jungle Spud has another magnet with 131.79 miles. We’ve been keeping an eye on Sewin’ Spuds in the “30 or less” group and sure enough, 115.3 miles for a magnet. CycoTater took a little jaunt through the blast furnace today to earn a new magnet with 109.0 miles. Potato Chip Rock got those final miles in virtually (Its hot outside) – rides in Chile watching snow capped mountains – for 105.9 miles. Yogatato is also done with 100.0 miles exactly after piecing together a short ride to the farmers market with a much cooler ride to Patagonia on the P. Magnets all around!!! Potato Happenings

Here’s what our potatoes are reporting about their rides today – keep the info coming and I tried to translate again for Decapotato but there’s a word I don’t know (and I’m too proud to look it up – I’ll wait until I learn it!)

We did have some tots who braved the heat: Bar Fry Just loving every day I can get out there and enjoy God’s work and the pleasure of being able to do the ride. Milby Crisps Nice flat ride in beautiful Mathews County, Virginia. Oh- Kay Tuber Another great morning ride with Fly Like and Eagle! Getting closer to the 100 mark. 😊 Yam Kronen Hot, wind and buggy. Those bugs hurt when they smack into you. Decapotato Sabado rodando con amigos (Saturday ____ with friends). La Nuova Patata Out and about in Frederick with a stop at the farmers market.

Week One is Done!

And we’re welcoming four more official potatoes to the over the line club.

Tuberville was out with a group searching for other potatoes and found not only ice cream but a magnet (125.73 miles). Almighty Spud and Drunk Spud are both over the finish line again, earning another magnet again with 108.0 miles. Spud Funk also wrapped it up today, across the century mark with 102.8 miles. Congrats go out to all our newest official taters. That brings our total finishers to 17 so far.

We’re keeping an eye on that “30 or less to go” group for our next group of finishers. I suspect it will come from this crew: Fry Alicia, Winning Spud, Sewin’ Spuds, Loch Ness Potato, CycoTater, Potato Chip Rock, Yogatato, Fry Like an Eagle, Spudding Genius, Tracie Tots, Oh-Kay-Tuber, Ain’t No Tater High Enough, and Hash Slinger. We should see them earn their magnets soon.

Potato Happenings

Telling us about their expeditions in Potato Happenings today are:

Darth Tater A big pine tree fell across the neighborhood street over night so I flagged down a car and he and dragged the tree to the side of the road. Two workouts in one! Potato Lane did more miles in the mountains of Maryland! Chip-n-Dale rode Spring Creek Trail and East Canyon Reservoir rides through Park City, Utah.

Harley Taterson found a field of sunflowers as a backdrop to this hot sunny day on the Eastern Shore of MD. CycoTater got out for a ride this morning before it gets wicked hot. Now I’m only a par-boiled tater…

Oh-Kay Tuber Spuds unite in the OBX! MelaTater First ride ever on a Peleton. Tom Tater Ride for breakfast @ Joey Bag Of Donuts (yum – more donuts. I think I know what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow after my ride).

I hear that yesterday, Buck A Spud, Pump up the Yam and Tuberville went to College Farm Station near Wmsburg VA to get ice cream while looking for You Be YAmeen , Toni the Spud , Holy Potato , Milby Crisp and D’YAmeen. They didn’t have any potato skins to pay for their purchase so they got creamed.

Salt Life Yam summed it up for all of us with “Hot! Hot! Hot!”

We may have our first mashed potato with a report of Casey at the Bat Potato falling off the bike at mile 10. Hoping all is well and Casey can continue.

Administrivia

Our potatoes have pedaled 7344.6 miles toward that 30,000 mile goal (only 22655.4 to go). We have 144 potatoes pedaling (our number continues to climb) and 58 potatoes on the couch (get OFF the couch).

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day to all of our American Potatoes! We had a lot of pedaling happening on this holiday and it yielded us 6 new official potatoes. Backpack Potato was just too darn hot “ugh” – but still has a magnet with 180.0 miles. Mythical Patata also crossed the finish line with 114.9 miles and “I’m a potato!!”. Spud Cool was chasing a fast teenager that got her over the line with 104.74 miles and a magnet. Laura Latkes is wishing all a Happy 4th! She enjoyed the day off and an early morning ride to earn her magnet (104.0 miles). Next are burgers and fireworks! Yes Ma’am Yam got her magnet with a bike ride to 4th of July parade and back with the family (husband and daughter on a tandem). Break to watch the parade and collect nutrition (aka candy thrown from floats). She checks in with 102.91 miles. Buck-A-Spud may have been out with several other potatoes today and she passed the century mark with 100.3 miles. Congratulations to all of our latest taters who made it official. Keep pedaling – and it looks like we have several in that “30 or less to go” group: Fry Alicia, Loch Ness Potato, Tuberville, Spud Funk, Winning Spud, Sewin’ Spuds, CycoTater, Tracie Tots, and Hash Slinger. We should see all of them earn their magnets soon.

Potato Happenings

In other news, wow – we’re you all really out there stomping on those pedals. Some may have even been watching the sprint finish for the boys in France – no spoilers here. This is what your telling us about your day:

Fry Alicia Well we will call this home and bike as trees were down on the path and a detour was in order but perfect temps! Bar Fry Had such a beautiful ride early this morning. Got to finish with the view of a beautiful dear mow munching my friend’s lawn. So grateful to be able to enjoy this gorgeous scenery! Kartoffel Kaiser After my beloved cat “Wednesday” woke me up to serve her breakfast at 6:00 am, I thought it best to get pedaling to beat the heat!

Chip-n-Dale Rode through downtown Boulder to Chautauqua Park and then the Big Mesa Trail in Moab. Have a great 4th everyone! Microchip Indoor ride through Moab, listening to Medical Mysteries. Nice! I may have to find this one – Moab is one of our favorite places to Jeep.

Golly D Tater and Christmas Potato Biked 16.1 miles for donuts on a beautiful 4th of July. Now that’s my kind of ride. CycoTater Morning ride with the hubs and baby brother. I think my bro dubbed “Little Tater” on this ride could be a beast on a bike…

Commissioner Potato nice flat ride (just like the stage in France). Cajun Gator Tater Trail riding in the mountains! (more like what they have coming up in France)

Kato Potato I saw five deer! Her family nickname for her whole life has been Kato Potato so here she is, in the perfect event. Yam Kronen Rained out, so me and my crocheted potato did an indoor spin. Chilli Cheese Fries A quick tandem spin before the 4th festivities begin! Disorderly TaterCommissioner Tater and I continued or “annual July 4” ride on the B&A trail in Maryland (Baltimore Annapolis). Did not make it to Annapolis but did the entire trail part. Again, WHY IS IT SO HOT?! Hash Slinger Made the trek to Mt. Vernon for Independence Day.

Decapotato Saliendo con los amigos y sumando Millas (Hanging out with friends and earning miles – I think I translated that – yes, I’m learning Spanish so I tried).

Spud Funk Day started off with a Fourth of July Run in Myrtle Beach. Got to follow that up with a warm ride to “cool down”. Pump up the Yam Trying to catch up to my WAB buds (and wife, Buck-A-Spud), Tuberville, Holy Potato and You Be Yameen. Got a long way to go…

Day 5 & 5 more Official Taters

That’s right – five more of you rockin’ spuds crossed the finish line today. Magnets all around! You be YAmeen was out riding with other potato heads that have become friends (that’s what we like to hear) and reached 118.02 miles. Marshmallow Fluff Potato is also finished for another magnet with 106.3 miles. As reported yesterday,  Chip-n-Dale road Flagstaff Road climb to amphitheater in Boulder this morning and he’s finished (yesterday/today, doesn’t matter – it’s the magnet that matters) – 101.08 miles. Surfin’ Spud and Fo’Fanna Potato hit the finish line exactly today with 100.0 miles. Congratulations to all of our finishers so far – seven in total.

Potato Happenings

Also out there pedaling away are Loch Ness Potato, Tuberville, Yes Ma’am Yam, Backpack Potato, and Mythical Patata – this is our group with less than 30 miles to go. Maybe they’ll all POP off the last of their miles in celebration of the United States’ birthday tomorrow.

Buck-A-Spud had a great ride with cycling group that included Tuberville, Holy Potato, and You Be YAmeen! Harley Taterson was out for another beautiful day near the Chesapeake Bay on Maryland back country roads! CFNo Spud is looking for a name change – should be Potato String b/c I’m handing on to Tri Spud by a thread. Artful Tuber realized that I entered my birthday, not the ride date yesterday. 🤦🏼‍♀️Spuddles is thankful for the rails to trails right in my neighborhood. Beautiful ride today. We even saw a wild Turkey!

Keep those pedals pumping and the tales coming. I am pedaling away on my stationary bike so I’m vicarious through all of you! If you’re still on the couch, hop up and pedal before enjoying fireworks tomorrow. If we enjoy potato salad with our BBQ , is that considered cannibalism? Inquiring minds want to know.

Administrivia

Our potatoes have pedaled 4985.74 miles toward that 30,000 mile goal (only 25014.26 to go). We have 129 potatoes pedaling and only 73 potatoes on the couch.

And then there were TWO

Bandit Yam picked a wonderful day for an early morning ride in the Northern Neck, 70 degrees and a very light wind bringing him over the finish line. He’s our second official potato, with 102.3 miles. Congrats!!

Chip-n-Dale, Backpack Potato, Surfin’ Spud, Marshmallow Fluff Potato, and Fo’Fanna Potato are all within 30 miles of the finish line – who will cross the century mark next? Reports indicate it’s Chip-n-Dale who did the Mrazek Trail this morning and then the Lava Island Trailhead along the Deschutes River (Deschutes makes a pretty good IPA. He could use one right about now!) CycoTater is shouting him out but we won’t make him official until we see them entered. Look for it tomorrow.

Potato Happenings

Fry Alicia Well it dropped 20 degrees in CO so went outside and I like calling this ride dodging geese as all the darn critters were swarming the bike path and not budging…I almost had one to take home for my dinner 😂

Sour Mashed Spud Beautiful day for Biker Chicks to ride. One of the Chicks had some motivational little potatoes crocheted to encourage us along the way 🥔🥔

Grape Tater First outdoor ride since… When did last year’s Tour end? Haha

Chilli Cheese Fries Spin Class!

Mann, I feel like a potato got in an early morning ride with another spud. A couple of miles in, I noticed she didn’t have on her helmet. We detoured by my house to get her a helmet and then a few miles down the road, realized she forgot her water too….:) we adapted, but may be a healthy reminder about spud safety!

Loch Ness Potato – beautiful solo ride this morning before the heat returns tomorrow!

Mythical Patata – 1st gravel ride and first ride on her new gravel bike!! Feel like a soggy potato right now due to all the hills!

Administrivia

Our potatoes have pedaled 3867.73 miles toward that 30,000 mile goal (only 26,132.27 to go). We have 118 potatoes pedaling and only 84 potatoes on the couch.
